The 2nd Department of Pathology at the Semmelweis University was established in 1895. As an academic department it is based on education, clinicopathology and diagnostics and research. Between 2000-2003 the autopsy room, biospy room and molecular pathology laboratory was fully reconstructed and introduced to fit into the standards of the era. 3rd year medical students are attending autopsy and histological classes at the institute in English, German and Hungarian languages with special emphasis on clinical pathology. Clinicians are attending the seminars and lectures to better illustrate the importance of everyday pathology practice.
