Future

Examination procedures, technologies and options will continue developing, especially thanks to the advancement of molecular pathology and genetics. After all, the use of oncological drugs in case of better described tumors is based on the detection of special alterations.

The other rapidly expanding area is telepathology, which is hardly surprising in the 21st century. The essence of this is the potential to examine histological samples from anywhere around the world, no matter where thee sampling spot may be, provided the appropriate technology is available. The tissue examined on a slide is scanned by a special device called the slide-scanner, and then the sample is stored on computer servers. In the framework of coordinated cooperation, the stored data can be downloaded and evaluated – even simultaneously if necessary – anywhere in the world.
